Please Stop the Crazy

Ok, can I just say that I will in no way, shape or form acknowledge that the so-called "holidays" are upon us...because they're not. Christmas is more than a month away so I'm putting my foot down. There will be no such talk of presents, eggnog or that fat man decked in red. Actually, there will be no talk of eggnog ever because ew.

Dry As Toast refuses to partake in such shenanigans until at least the day after Thanksgiving- when the rest of the country goes completely mad. And even then is pushing it.

UPDATE: You've got to be joking.

  2. Does it really taste good? I'm condemning the drink before I even try it because it just does not look appealing! At least in my head it doesn't...

  3. I just posted about this very same thing earlier today. It's crazy, isn't it? The amount of Christmas stuff and lights on people's homes. Lights?! Already!!

  4. Dear Lord lights?! Argh...

I went to Target yesterday and stuff is everywhere. I'm sorry, but I refuse.

I went to visit the fam yesterday and bearing through 30 minutes of one of the saddest holiday movies ever made (Jack Frost) on TV was more than enough.

  5. mmmm egg nog! Gotta watch the fat in it though. I prefer my homemade over the store bought although Im thinking of trying the Silk brand this year. As for Christmas...I never really acknowledge it until Santa has mad his trip completely to the end of the Macy's Parade. Then and only then does the holiday music go on the the tree go up....assuming Im not having a "Bah HUMBUG" kinda year. Might not this year though as there's a possibility of snow where Im at now AND there's the fact hubby is on a new schedule this year which means for the first time in several years he'll actually have the day off. YAY!

  9. I agree with you! However, I think the stores are having major sales right about now to get people SHOPPING!

We will put up our little Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. Then the holiday season starts for us.

  10. I completely agree. I'm putting my foot down, too! No acknowledgment of Christmas until AFTER the holidays.

  11. I totally agree with you 100%!!!!!
I hate when I see Halloween good at stores in August or Christmas stuff before Halloween. Can't we just enjoy the season without feeling the pressure from Hallmark??

Anyway, I gave you something on my blog - I hope you'll like it.

    xoxo

  12. dama, that's when the holidays begin for me too...that's why I'm banning TV for a couple weeks. (They don't play the Hess truck commercial on the radio right?!) And ugh, why can't people leave perfectly good things alone?

    blythe, hear hear!

sugarlens, and people buy into it thinking it's the only time they'll get such great deals...until the stores have 50 more of those between now and dec 25th. Oh and lets not forget about those after-Holiday sales. Schemers all of them.

snotty, hahaha! You might be onto something there. I mean, am I really going to see everyone before Christmas? So who's to say when I bought any of those presents.

maki, thanks for the award! And I wish people would just hold off for a bit longer. If you start celebrating now, won't you be sick and tired by the time it actually rolls around?

  19. Hola... Just jumped over from Franco's blog! I wanted to say that here in France, they have Christmas stuff out in Oc/early Nov!!!!! And we don't celebrate Halloween OR Thanksgiving here (well, I do, the French don't). Imagine how strange it is for me... We don't have eggnog here.. But, Starbucks in Paris whips up a crème brulée latte over the holidays!
Love your blog, btw! Take care, Leesa
